About the role

Our client is looking for an exceptional lawyer with outstanding legal skills to join this high performing and diverse legal team – they are driven, supportive and will nurture your in-house legal career!  As Senior Legal Counsel you will provide a full range of legal, governance, risk, and compliance advice, with a strong technology and digital delivery focus. Reporting to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, you will lead by example, provide strong leadership within the team and support the development and execution of legal strategy.

 

This role is busy, and variety filled but also offers a great balanced approach to work and life. Enjoying local and international workflows you will negotiate complex contracts and commercial agreements and enjoy working at pace to provide business-ready, pragmatic legal advice on data protection, privacy, software licensing and technology contracts, anti-money laundering, intellectual property, health and safety and general commercial matters.

What we’re looking for

  • A lawyer with at least 10+ years’ good quality post-admission experience who holds (or is entitled to hold) a current NZ practising certificate
  • Experience in corporate and commercial law, gained at a major law firm and/or in an in-house role
  • Experience in technology, regulatory matters, compliance, and transaction and project management is essential
  • Expert Contracting skills
  • A passion for innovation and a tech-savvy approach to legal service delivery
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong commercial acumen, a good sense of humour and a growth mindset
