Marija Batistich is Senior Corporate Counsel at KiwiRail. She joined KiwiRail 3 years ago after over 20 years in private practice as an environmental and planning lawyer working on significant infrastructure projects.

Marija leads KiwiRail’s input into resource management reform, and provides strategic advice on the consenting and delivery of projects as well as policy and Public Works Act matters.

She was on secondment to Te Waihanga (Infrastructure Commission) during 2022/2023 to assist with work on the (then) infrastructure section of the proposed National Planning Framework.

Marija has an active interest in policy reform matters that affect the delivery and operation of infrastructure in New Zealand.
