This team is responsible for advising on Tauranga City Council's property investment/divestment decisions and leading strategic property projects that help meet the city's growth and the benefit of our communities.

Lead this team to deliver professional property advisory services for Council, find innovative solutions to property/development issues, and enable our customers and stakeholders to meet their objectives. Our work includes property investigation and strategic advisory work regarding current and potential property interests. Our Strategic Property team is central to the delivery of key infrastructure and amenity projects, the optimisation of Council property and development opportunities, and in facilitating great places for our communities.

You will lead, support and develop your team, providing our highly skilled individuals with your guidance and direction and being a sounding board as needed.

You will help resolve complex or contentious property issues, lead high-profile property deals for Council, prepare reports and present at Council meetings, negotiate with property owners, developers and other stakeholders, and engage with the community.

As we deal with various interests in land, you will need an appreciation for the Council's relationship with Tangata Whenua, be willing to engage with Tangata Whenua, and seek to understand kaupapa Maori within the Tauranga Moana area.

We are looking for someone who has sound property experience, such as valuation, development or a legal background in this area. This role requires an entrepreneurial, responsive and strategic approach, backed by solid technical knowledge (public works, local government, resource management and reserves legislation, plus sale and purchase processes). You will be skilled at developing and maintaining strong relationships, and enjoy coaching and mentoring others.
