  • Work closely with Xero’s commercial team in your region to help drive strategic relationships and initiatives for Xero locally, but with a global mindset.

  • Provide advice to senior managers on legal aspects of their defined areas (including across security, sales/marketing, customer experience, and product).

  • Drive and/or manage projects within the global legal team to manage workflow management, operational efficiency, global and regional education and training programs, and business compliance.

  • Review, negotiate, and draft key legal documents, such as vendor supply agreements, marketing partner agreements, data exchange agreements, integration agreements and procurement contracts.

  • Interpret legal documents and advise management on the most appropriate course of action and risks.

  • Ensure the business is informed of and compliant with any existing or proposed legislation.

  • Contribute to internal policy and process development.

  • Liaise and collaborate with legal team peers in all areas and regions to deliver holistic legal function outcomes.

  • Assist with any M&A activity, as required.

  • Assist with investigating and responding to enquiries from law enforcement agencies and regulators.

  • Liaise with and manage Xero’s external legal advisors, as required.

Our ideal candidate will have several years PQE, with in-house experience desirable, ideally in a fast-paced or high growth business. You will bring with you outstanding communication, legal advisory, contract drafting, and business partnering skills, including the ability to provide strategic commercial advice. You will have a grounding in technology-related transactions and be able to extend to compliance and advisory areas. You will have a bias to innovation, agility, collaboration and natural language communication and have experience in implementing projects such as training and compliance programs to empower your business stakeholders. You are excited by new ways of working and thinking outside the box. You have a practical, influential and results-focused approach and, above all, you bring a #human approach to the law.
