Join a growing company, with a focus on innovation. A market leader in
providing services to electricity, gas and water companies throughout Australia and New Zealand. Their work has a real time economic and financial impact for their customers and partners, plus an increasingly important place in managing our impact on the environment.
You will be covering for a parental leave and work closely with the Australian and New Zealand teams, reporting directly to the Group General Counsel (actually a fellow Kiwi based in Sydney). The legal team is quite small and so you will be expected to get involved in a range of matters including managing litigation. The role is designed to be a support to the senior team and there are several projects in need of attention that will fall in your lap.
Most important will be strong drafting skills, in particular contracts, plus policy development and other templates. It will suit someone who enjoys intellectual challenge because many of the issues you are faced with are being tested for the first time, and because of the complex and overlapping relationships which include numerous JVs and other partnerships. Some experience in the IT and / data protection space would be a bonus.
Our client has been very specific on level as there is a possibility that this role will become part of the permanent structure going forward. You will need at least 4, but not more than 6, years' PQE, with a strong foundation from a good commercial team. It may suit someone looking to re-establish themselves back in New Zealand after time away.
