President's Column - October 2020
Kia ora koutou
Welcome to the October issue of the In-house Insider. With Labour Day and Halloween done and dusted and Christmas just 51 days away, we are heading into the final straight of what has been a marathon of a year.
ILANZ Committee Strategy Day
Last Friday, the new ILANZ committee came together in person for the first time since taking office in May. Our annual strategy day is one of the most important dates in the ILANZ committee calendar. It is the day we decide what we want to achieve for our members, as well as how and where we want to channel our energy and resources.
It was a successful day, and we look forward to sharing more of our vision with our members over the coming months.
ILANZ Conference 2021
One of the key items up for discussion was the 2021 ILANZ conference. Like many organisations, we have been considering whether we need to alter our delivery method – traditionally our conference has been a two-day, in-person event complete with functions and awards ceremony – do we keep this format, do we move the conference online or do we create a hybrid event?
Instead of going back and forth among ourselves, we figured we should just ask you, our members, what you thought. If you could take two minutes to answer our poll we would really appreciate it.
Regulation and reform
Over the past few months ILANZ has been actively involved in contributing to the Law Society submission on the High Court Rules Committee consultation regarding costs for litigants in person, which sought input on the topic of costs for in-house lawyers. This submission was filed with the Rules Committee last week. A copy of the Law Society’s submission is available here.
College of Law Annual Wellness study
