Access to justice – pro bono legal work – NZLS submission
A member’s bill to amend the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 to allow employed lawyers to do pro bono legal work, on conditions set by the New Zealand Law Society, is being considered by Parliament’s Justice committee. The New Zealand Law Society has made a submission to the committee, supporting the objective of improving access to pro bono legal services, while ensuring that consumers receive adequate protection and standards of professional conduct are upheld.
