We influence the work of others by working in partnership, and bring Maori voices to decision-makers and we invest with Maori to pursue opportunities, including through funding and partnerships. To achieve this we engage with whānau, hapū and iwi, and partner with other public sector agencies.

 

Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity

We are looking for a Solicitor to join our dynamic and outcome-focused Legal Services team, providing excellence in legal advice and support to the Executive Leadership Team and to the five Puni that make up Te Puni Kōkiri. This can either be a permanent 40 hour week, or permanent part-time arrangement of minimum 30 hours over 5 days. Salary will be pro rata based on hours worked.

Ko wai koe | About you

Ideally you will have:

  • A good working knowledge of the public sector and the machinery of government
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Self-motivation and the drive to achieve set targets
  • A sound understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and issues prevalent in the area of Māori affairs
  • A willingness and ability to support team goals and objectives
  • A law degree and at least 2 years legal experience.

 

You must be eligible to hold a practicing certificate in New Zealand.
