We are looking for a Senior Solicitor with public law experience to support ACC's vision of a thriving Aotearoa, driven by a purpose of improving lives every day.
You will need to be comfortable advising in a large Crown Entity with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will advise on complex strategic and operational matters relating to the running of the Accident Compensation Scheme, ACC's public law obligations, policy development and legislative changes.
We're looking for a team player with exceptional communication skills, who can build strong relationships and work collaboratively. Someone who can focus on the big issues and provide simple, solutions focused advice will fit well with us.

This is a Wellington or Auckland based role.
Ko wai koe - About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
- be able to provide leadership and clear direction in the provision of specialist legal advice (including advice relating to the operation of the Scheme, the scope and lawful exercise of Crown Entity powers, privacy, official information, and the application of Te Tiriti)
- have demonstrable experience in proactively building relationships with key stakeholders, to build better understanding of the strategic context, support greater visibility of the pipeline of work, and to enable proactive legal thinking
- have excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to support the broader legal team
- have experience working with a range of technical experts, with experience in highly regulated, insurance or health sectors and Crown Entities being an advantage
- have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi / The Treaty of Waitangi and its application to Crown Entities
- have a tertiary qualification in law with seven years post qualification experience in a relevant legal role
- hold a current New Zealand Law Society practicing certificate.

The base salary range for this role is $117,787 to $166,288 with appointment depending on skills and experience and internal relativities. ACC also offers 9% superannuation.
