Senior Solicitor, Enforcement - FMA - Auckland, Wellington

The Role - Te Tūranga 

To keep up with organisational growth, we now have room for a new Senior Solicitor to join our Enforcement team, within our General Counsel function. Our Enforcement team is responsible for all legal matters pertaining to FMA enforcement action in response to misconduct and contraventions of financial markets legislation.

In this role, you'll provide high quality legal advice in relation to investigations, litigation and other enforcement action, to ensure FMA's enforcement goals are achieved, and that the enforcement function reinforces FMA's reputation as a strong, effective, proactive and respected organisation. This position can be based in either Auckland or Wellington.

 

About you - Ō pūkenga 

This position is suited to an experienced solicitor from the public sector with an enforcement background or a litigator/ prosecutor in private practice. You will possess 5+ years' post admission experience, and a current practising certificate (or entitlement to one).

Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the financial services industry and of civil procedure (essential) or criminal procedure (desirable), but it will be your drive, enthusiasm and adaptability that will allow you to truly excel in this role. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be just as important as your technical abilities.
