About the role
We have an opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join Craigs Investment Partners (CIP) based at our Head Office in Tauranga.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Legal Counsel has a primary responsibility to provide high quality, outcome-focussed legal advice and manage legal risk across the CIP Group’s businesses, relationships, products, services, and processes on a broad range of strategic and day to day matters.
The Senior Legal Counsel will work with and support all areas of the business to analyse and manage legal, financial, and reputational exposure to achieve successful outcome for clients and the business while protecting the CIP Group’s interests.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a law degree, be admitted as barrister and solicitor, hold a NZ Law Society Practising Certificate and be able to demonstrate the following:
- 8+ years PQE preferably in financial services in-house or from a recognized law firm or regulatory agency
- Significant knowledge and experience in financial services, fund management, regulation, commercial, corporate, information technology and intellectual property law
We expect you will have strong communication and negotiating skills, with the ability to influence behaviour and outcomes. Also, as this is a position with considerable autonomy, you will need to be self-motivating, innovative, and capable of exercising excellent judgement.
Having experience working in financial services across wholesale and retail business units (preferably capital raisings, capital markets, broking, financial advice, and fund management sectors) is desirable. As is being familiar with trans-Tasman regulatory regime, as applicable to relevant financial services.
