He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Lead a team of enforcement Solicitors within the Regulatory and Enforcement team to foster and maintain an environment that provides strategic as well as practical legal advice to Council’s Monitoring and Compliance teams. Ensuring that prosecutions and enforcement action are undertaken in accordance with the law and enforcement best practice.
As well as leading a highly capable and dedicated team, there will be opportunities for you to appear in courts including appeal matters.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will have a degree in law and have at least 10 years relevant practical post‐admission experience in law with extensive experience in regulatory enforcement including prosecutions and appellate court proceedings.
Experience with regulatory enforcement action in the civil context including local government would be beneficial.
The key legislation Council’s enforcement teams work under includes the Resource Management Act 1991, Building Act 2004, the Dog Control Act 1996, Food Act 2014, Health Act 1956, and other regulatory legislation.
You will have experience leading a team or supervising and mentoring junior solicitors. A strong understanding of the Criminal Procedure Act 2011, rules of evidence, and the Solicitor General’s Prosecution Guidelines is required.
