About Locate Technologies
Locate Technologies is a technology company at the forefront of logistics and innovation. Currently listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: LOC), the company is in the process of migrating its listing to the New Zealand Exchange (NZX). This migration will support our strategic vision of expanding our investor base in New Zealand and enabling the company to continue purchasing Bitcoin as its primary treasury asset.
As an upcoming NZX-listed company, Locate Technologies is seeking a skilled and commercially minded General Counsel (New Zealand) to join our growing team.
About the Role
This newly created position will be responsible for leading the company’s legal and compliance function in New Zealand as we transition onto the NZX. You will work closely with the executive team on a wide range of corporate and commercial legal matters, providing advice that is both strategic and pragmatic.
Key responsibilities include:
● Managing ongoing NZX compliance, reporting, and governance obligations.
● Advising on capital and debt raising activities, including structuring, disclosure, and execution.
● Supporting strategic corporate initiatives and transactions.
● Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements.
● Working closely with external legal and financial advisors.
● Advising on internal policies, risk management, and general legal matters across the business.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong commercial law background and a mindset that blends legal rigour with commercial insight. You’ll have had prior experience working within a law firm and/or an in-house corporate legal team.
Key qualifications and skills:
● Admitted to practise law in New Zealand (with a current practising certificate).
● 5+ years of experience in corporate / commercial law, ideally with exposure to capital markets.
● Strong understanding of corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
● Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
● A practical, solution-focused approach to legal advice.
● Interest or experience in technology-driven businesses.
● Experience using AI tools to enhance efficiency and workflow is highly regarded.
