Why we need you
We are New Zealand's leading payments provider, at the forefront of some exciting new technology and developments. Today, Paymark EFTPOS is deeply embedded and trusted by New Zealanders when paying for goods and services, and to date we have put through over 16 billion transactions, worth an estimated $700B, and worked with over 120,000 merchants, covering 75% of the market.
The last few years has seen Paymark change and evolve dramatically, with a deliberate focus on building for the future and relatively new ownership as part of Worldline, Europe’s largest payments provider.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the robust governance of our business. The legal team provide advice to the company in relation to corporate and commercial issues. We need you to support the business by providing legal leadership and expertise to the company, ensuring that the company’s legal obligations and compliance requirements are met. In addition you will provide company secretarial services at board meetings, ensuring that all operations are compliant with relevant legislation and that Paymark NZ directors are well advised of their obligations.
What we need you to be good at
In order to provide robust advice to our business, we need you to have strong analysis and interpretation skills. You’ll have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and you’ll apply a professional, adaptable approach to all your dealings, as well as being able to relate to all people at all levels. Most of all you’ll be a great team player and will be able to collaborate closely with others. Prioritising and managing expectations is also key.
You’ll have:
- Extensive knowledge in commercial, corporate and competition law
- A Law degree, preferably from NZ
- At least eight years postgraduate legal experience in broad range of areas
- Experience of drafting contracts and contract negotiation
- Management and Leadership experience
- NZLS Practicing Certificate.
