The Role - Te Tūranga 

Due to an internal promotion, we are searching for a Manager in our Enforcement team to help lead the FMA's litigation and enforcement activities. As part of the General Counsel function, our Enforcement team is responsible for all legal work in response to misconduct and contraventions of the law within the financial markets. 

In addition to managing a team of high performing solicitors, you'll also have the opportunity to lead your own cases and significant FMA-wide projects. As a senior leader in the Enforcement team, you'll work closely with the Head of Enforcement to help shape the direction of the team; while also working closely with the Evidence & Investigations team and other internal stakeholders.

About you - Ō pūkenga 

We are looking for an experienced litigator with 10+ years' PQE (including holding a current Practising Certificate) and a genuine interest in people management. You'll be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading complex and large-scale cases in high pressure environments, with particular expertise in regulatory litigation and investigations
  • Commercial acumen and prior exposure to the financial markets
  • Previous experience in people management (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a public sector environment (desirable)
  • Excellent relationship management and organisational skills
