Legal Counsel - Public Law - Auckland Transport

Auckland Transport is shaping Auckland with a range of exciting projects to provide Aucklanders with transport choices. Supporting these projects through to completion requires the assistance of keen legal minds.

We are looking for a Legal Counsel specialising in Public Law to join our Legal Services Team based in our offices in the Viaduct.

 

The role

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will provide considered legal advice across a broad range of public law matters on behalf of Auckland Transport. They will represent Auckland Transport when dealing with the Office of the Ombudsman, Privacy Commissioner and Human Rights Tribunal. Other responsibilities include:

  • Management of judicial review litigation
  • Analysing and preparing submissions for new legislation
  • Assessing policy considerations
  • Preparing and reviewing delegations
  • Preparing and reviewing bylaws;
  • Ensuring legislative compliance and reporting

 

We are looking for

An experienced solicitor (10+ years PQE) who has worked across a broad range of public law issues with an excellent understanding of the New Zealand administrative and procedural law, a tertiary degree in law and practising certificate. You will be comfortable operating at all levels in our organisation with expert internal and external stakeholder management.
