We are seeking a solicitor with 2- 4 years PAE to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution team as Legal Counsel.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
In this role, you will work within our team of highly experienced in-house litigators who deal with claims in contract and tort including building defect claims, LIMS, climate change, health & safety matters, coronial enquiries, claims for compensation under the Public Works Act and debt collection. The work is highly varied and covers a multitude of subject matters. A number of the cases that Council deals with involve novel and precedent-setting issues of law and are of public interest.
You will be an energetic and proactive member of a team of high performing litigation/dispute resolution professionals who are dedicated to delivering high quality legal services across the Council family. You will engage and build relationships with internal client groups to provide advice and support in the area of general civil litigation and dispute resolution, and health and safety matters. You will also work closely with our external legal providers.

Experience in civil litigation and dispute resolution is preferred. You will have the ability to deliver well written, technically robust legal advice, the ability to develop great stakeholder relationships, and you will have a confident and collaborative working style. This is an opportunity to utilise your interpersonal and relationship building skills while working across a large and varied portfolio. You will be focused on solutions and be able to support the organisation in managing risk and thinking proactively with great attention to detail but also have the ability to see the bigger picture.
