About the role

Our client is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its small yet mighty legal team! Working with a couple of more Senior Legal Counsel, together you will support the General Counsel as she manages all day-to-day legal matters involved in this diverse and highly respected global business. You will receive the right mix of support and autonomy in providing a full range of legal, governance, risk, and compliance advice, with a strong technology and digital delivery focus.

This role is almost ideal for someone who would like to go offshore as a next career step as the role is busy and diverse and has both local and international flavour. You will draft and negotiate complex contracts and commercial agreements and enjoy working at pace to provide business-ready, pragmatic legal advice on data protection, privacy, software licensing and technology contracts, anti-money laundering, intellectual property, health and safety and general commercial matters.

What we’re looking for

· A lawyer with at least 4-5 years’ good quality post-admission experience who holds (or is entitled to hold) a current NZ practising certificate

· Experience in corporate and commercial law, gained at a major law firm and/or in an in-house role

· Technology, compliance, and regulatory experience ideal

· This role is a permanent one, however if your plan is to travel in a year or so we would still welcome your application. A global mindset is encouraged here!

· Fresh ideas, a passion for innovation and legal operations, with a tech-savvy approach to legal service delivery

· A person who will contribute positively to company culture and loves dealing with a diverse range of people every day
