Seeking a motivated Legal Counsel who wants to further their career in a role with variety plus!

About the role

Here is a unique role for a sole legal counsel to join a fast-paced global enterprise that supports over 3,000 member businesses across 19 countries. Supported by external legal counsel, you will focus on the New Zealand business and report to a General Counsel in Australia.

A fantastic role for a generalist who loves variety, you will provide high quality and effective day to day legal support for all areas of the business, including growth of new and existing business activities and partnerships in the ANZ region. You will further develop existing legal risk management and compliance frameworks and revel in the variety you will encounter as your workday ranges from BAU contracts for supply and distribution, acquisitions and divestments, employment, leasing and property, IT and IP, to enforcement proceedings and liability claims.

Together with your Australian colleagues, you will assist in global projects and be responsible for ensuring that commercial and legal interests are protected. You will quickly become the ‘go-to person’ for all things legal and legally related on the ground in New Zealand so your ability to get to know and understand this organisation and its people relatively quickly will be welcome.

Whilst currently a sole legal counsel role, there is likely to be opportunity for direct reports to the future and immediate direct involvement mentoring and guiding junior legal team members in Australia.

This business has varied interests across New Zealand so you may be based in Auckland, Hamilton, or Wellington. Primarily office-based fulltime role with one day WFH.

What we’re looking for

· A NZ qualified lawyer with current LPC and at least 5 years relevant experience

· Strong core commercial contracts and company law experience supplemented by more general knowledge in a variety of areas, ideally including property and consumer law

· Prior inhouse experience preferred, ANZ regional experience advantageous

· Strong communication and influencing skills,
