Mercury has an opportunity for a Legal and Commercial Advisor – Group & ESG to join their team in this pivotal role. Reporting to the General Counsel and working closely with the Head of Sustainability and Planning, you will work as part of a high performing legal team to provide risk based legal and commercial guidance to the business with particular focus on environmental, social and governance matters.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 2 years PQE (either private practice or inhouse), and a current NZ LPC
  • Sound general company and commercial law knowledge with experience and interest in regulatory compliance (including Companies Act, FMCA, NZX Listing Rules), governance and company secretarial matters
  • A pragmatic person who enjoys solving challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic organisation, alongside a range of diverse and dynamic teams
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including at Board level
  • Inhouse experience (i.e. via secondment or other) preferred but not essential
  • Relevant industry knowledge is desired but not essential
