Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) provides and funds a wide range of health and disability services in the South Auckland area. The DHB employs over 8000 people and has an annual operating budget in excess of $1.5 billion. 

We are seeking a lawyer with at least 1 or 2 years post admission experience to work with the Chief Legal Adviser to provide legal advice on a wide range of legal issues relevant to the organisation. The major areas of focus for the role will be medico-legal and contract/commercial matters but the issues that you are involved with will be wide ranging. These issues will involve matters as diverse as patient consent, board governance, construction arrangements and end of life care.

You may have experience in private practise and/or as in-house counsel. A wide range of experience will be looked at for the role. Don’t be put off if you don’t have health sector experience. We are looking for the right person above all else to fill the role. The role is full-time, flexible working arrangements will be negotiated with the successful candidate. A market approach to salary will be taken.

This is an exciting and interesting role based primarily at Middlemore Hospital. Applicants must be hard working, pragmatic, have excellent communication skills and be committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the South Auckland community. A robust sense of humour would be an advantage.
