Governance and Compliance Manager - University of Canterbury - Christchurch

  • Full-time at 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
  • Continuing (i.e. permanent) position
     

What You Will Do
Reporting to the General Counsel/Registrar, you will assist with the management and coordination of the University's compliance requirements (statutory and regulatory), its governance responsibilities in supporting the University Council, as well as the provision of public and administrative law advice. In this role you will also be responsible for overseeing UC's internal audit function and policy framework.

 

Who You Are
With a LLB Bachelor's Degree and current legal practising certificate from the New Zealand Law Society, you will have substantial legal experience in administrative and public law. You will be known for your communication and relationship building skills, as well as your ability to find pragmatic solutions to technical problems.

You will a have a proven ability to lead a team and have experience in compliance and statutory reporting. Additionally, you will be energetic, analytical, forward-thinking, and enjoy a challenging environment.

 

Who You Will Work With
The Office of the General Counsel/Registrar, within the Vice Chancellor's Office, is responsible for the University's legal services, policy & compliance, governance, internal audit and information management functions. It is a small team of dedicated professionals committed to working together to ensure the University of Canterbury meets its strategic objectives efficiently and effectively.
