About the role
Due to an internal promotion, Fonterra has a rare vacancy on their Legal Leadership team for an experienced General Counsel.
Reporting to the Director of Legal, the General Counsel – Group Functions sits on the Legal Leadership team and leads a small team of senior lawyers providing strategic and commercial legal advice to senior management globally on a range of portfolio specific and wider Fonterra business issues.
This portfolio is extensive and includes legal support for Farm Source (Fonterra’s critically important farmer engagement and services business unit), and Fonterra’s Treasury, Procurement, Capital Structure/Markets, Milk Price, Stakeholder Affairs, Sustainability and Incident Management Team functions. This role is challenging, fast paced, distinctive and highly rewarding, and will suit an accomplished and focused senior general counsel to continue the excellent mahi done to date.
What we’re looking for
· At least 12 years’ high calibre PQE and expert technical knowledge of general commercial and business law
· Extensive experience giving and managing commercial legal advice
· Proven ability to manage risk holistically while driving business results
· Highly developed influencing and stakeholder management skills and sound experience in the management of regulatory and/or liability issues
· Strong people and enterprise leadership skills and experience
· You will have ideally had previous in-house and multi-jurisdictional experience
· An innovative, solutions focused, communicative and collaborative interpersonal style
