Employment Relations Consultant - Full-Time - Auckland

Te Whiwhinga mahi - The opportunity

The role reports to the Employment Relations Lead (Senior Employment Relations Partner) and plays a part in leading and governing industrial and employment relations for AT, ensuring they are legally compliant and align with our organisational goals and values, and enable the delivery of the people and performance strategy.

You will be an in-house subject matter expert for employment relations and will (together with the ER Lead) be responsible for growing this capability across the organisation and will pay a key part in the management of our union relationship.

The role works collaboratively with the P&P team and other key stakeholders across AT to create an environment where our people and teams are empowered to deliver Easy Journeys for Tāmaki Makaurau.

As a trusted partner you'll need the ability to quickly engage and build effective relationships. Experienced in working in large and complex organisations with the focus of developing a high performing and inclusive culture. An inquisitive mind with a creative yet outcome focused approach to coaching and guiding leaders through ER related matters of varying complexity.

 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • a tertiary qualification in law, Employment Relations, Human Resources Management, or related field
  • a minimum of three to five years' experience in an inhouse employment relations or legal role, or specialising in employment law at a law firm
  • ideally, to hold an NZ Legal Practising certificate or the eligibility to hold one
  • previous experience in providing coaching and advice to people leaders
  • the ability to understand business issues and demonstrate a business focus
  • the ability to build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external).
