Join us for a half-day workshop in Auckland
The tragic events in Christchurch in March of this year have raised our awareness of the work that still needs to happen if we truly want to be a more racially equitable Aotearoa.
For some, there's frustration that it takes such an event to open other's eyes to the reality they live with everyday. For others, the frustration is wanting to take some practical action to change things but not knowing how or where to begin. Or maybe you just have questions and are not sure how to ask them.
So how do we move beyond ‘diversity talk’ and find meaningful and workable solutions?
To examine these questions, ILANZ is hosting a three hour workshop facilitated by international speaker, Mr Glenn Singleton, author of Courageous Conversations About Race. In this workshop participants will:
- ENGAGE in a thoughtful, compassionate exploration of race and racism, especially as it relates to the culture and climate within their organisation and the justice system.
- PRACTICE using tools to engage, sustain and deepen Courageous Conversation about the impact of race and racism at a personal and professional level.
- DEVELOP knowledge and skills to identify and address policies, programmes, and practices that put up barriers to equitable inclusion and cultural responsiveness within their organisation.
Courageous Conversations About Race (CCAR) is a protocol for building racial equity in the education, health and justice systems, and beyond.
The CCAR Protocol provides participants with tools and strategies to engage, sustain and deepen intra- and inter-racial dialogue about race, racism and racial equity. These tools are applicable to their personal and professional lives, leading to significant short-term impact and longstanding organisational change.
