Michèle A’Court is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor and event MC / kaiwhakataki. Michèle was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in the 2023 New Year’s Honours for services to comedy and entertainment.

Winner of “Female Comedian of the Decade” at the 2010 NZ Comedy Guild Awards and the 2015 Reilly Award for Excellence in Comedy, Michèle’s international experience as a stand-up comedian includes work in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, Papua New Guinea and East Timor.

In addition to her live performances, Michele has maintained a strong presence on television. She has been a regular guest host on Three’s primetime show, “The Project,” and has made frequent appearances on the hit comedy show “7Days” since its inception in 2009. Michele's versatile talents also extend to radio, where she is a frequent voice on RNZ National’s “Nine to Noon” and “The Panel,” and a sought-after contributor on commercial radio.

Michele's skills are not limited to performance alone. She has utilized her training as a journalist to become a prolific writer. From 2008 to 2019, she wrote a weekly newspaper column on current social issues for Stuff, and she continues to contribute as a freelance writer for various publications. Her literary contributions include two bestselling books: “Stuff I Forgot To Tell My Daughter” (2015) and “How We Met” (2018), both published by Harper Collins.

Michele co-hosts “On The Rag,” a monthly podcast hosted by The Spinoff, along with a monthly video series of the same name funded by NZ On Air. These platforms allow her to reach and engage with a diverse audience, discussing contemporary social issues with her trademark humor and insight.

Michèle is a proud member of Actors’ Equity and a Life Member of the NZ Comedy Guild. She is Patron of “The Aunties” and also MHANZ which cares for the carers in the health sector, and she’s an Ambassador for Breast Cancer Cure .
