Dr Linda Dear

Dr Linda Dear is one of New Zealand’s foremost experts in menopause care. With a career that seamlessly combines medical expertise, psychology, and fitness, Linda has dedicated her life to supporting women through one of the most transformative phases of their lives.

As the founder of Menodoctor, a private menopause clinic staffed by a multidisciplinary team of six doctors, a nutritionist, a pelvic floor physiotherapist, and a health coach, Linda oversees comprehensive, personalised care for women across New Zealand.

A Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, Linda holds a postgraduate diploma from the UK’s Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a certified menopause practitioner with The Menopause Society. Her qualifications are matched by her passion for advancing understanding and care around menopause, both clinically and in the wider community. She also leads Menodoctor at Work, a programme providing menopause education, training, and support to workplaces, recognising the critical need for informed conversations in professional environments.

Before embarking on her medical career, Linda studied and worked in psychology, combining her understanding of the mind with her deep interest in physical wellbeing. A certified personal fitness trainer and Ashtanga yoga teacher, she has always been passionate about health and movement. This foundation was shaped by her early years as an elite athlete, representing New Zealand as an international rhythmic gymnast and earning a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Linda’s commitment to driving meaningful change is evident in her role as the creator of Australasia’s largest menopause survey, which garnered over 9,000 responses across New Zealand and Australia. Her findings have been featured widely in print, online, and on television, and in 2024, she presented insights from the Australian survey to the Senate Inquiry into Menopause. These efforts have positioned Linda as a leading voice in raising awareness and understanding of menopause at both national and international levels.

Through her diverse career and lived experiences, Linda brings an unparalleled depth of knowledge to her work, empowering women to embrace the challenges and opportunities of menopause. Passionate, knowledgeable, and deeply empathetic, she is on a mission to ensure menopause is no longer a taboo topic but a celebrated chapter in every woman’s life
