Weaving Te Ao Māori into the fabric of our in-house teams; personal reflections and insights 

The 2022 Deloitte In-house Insights Report found that Te Ao Māori, tikanga and Te Tiriti principles are growing in importance for in-house lawyers with varying levels of competency across organisations and lawyers.   The Report commented in-house legal counsel will be better able to service their business' needs through authentically understanding and increasing their Te Ao Māori cultural confidence.  

This Panel session has been created in response to the Report and conference feedback.  Our MC Wilhelmina Shrimpton will moderate a discussion between experienced in-house lawyers from different sectors whose organisations are at different stages of their Te Ao Māori journey.  Each panelist will share their personal view on what Te Ao Māori is, reflections on why it should be weaved into an in-house legal team's operations, and insights from their own journey.  The aim of the session is to contribute to ongoing discussion within our in-house community and provide advice that supports each of us on our individual journey.
