The Office of the Chief Tax Counsel currently has a Senior Solicitor vacancy within their Disputes Review Unit (DRU).
The DRU's function is to take a fresh look at a dispute, providing an independent and impartial decision on the issues in the dispute and involves impartially considering the correct legal position after comprehensive research and analysis of the law. We consider the legal correctness of arguments raised by a taxpayer and Inland Revenue, to decide whether a proposed adjustment to a taxpayer's tax assessment or other disputable decision should or should not be made.
This role is technically complex and demands a well-honed cognitive ability. Your strengths in tax law interpretation coupled with a proven ability to undertake critical analysis will be crucial in delivering the objectives of the job. With your first class written and verbal communication skills, you will have the opportunity to excel by clearly, concisely, and logically communicating your findings.
