Senior Legal Advisor - Construction/Property Law - MBIE - Auckland or Wellington

  • Be part of a nationally-recognised, high-performing legal team that combines commercial acumen with public law disciplines.
  • Flexible working arrangements available for the right candidate.
  • Wellington or Auckland.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is seeking an outstanding property/construction lawyer to work on some of the largest and highest-profile office leasing and development projects in New Zealand.

New Zealand Government Procurement & Property (NZGPP) is the unit responsible for bringing these projects to market and managing them on behalf of the New Zealand Government. Its portfolio includes premium office buildings and precincts in all the main centres and across the regions.

NZGPP is supported by its own legal team. Be part of a legal team that has reach and influence across the entire public sector, and was the inaugural ILANZ-Chapman Tripp In-House Legal Team of the Year.

The legal team offers a highly supportive culture, exceptionally strong relationships with its clients, and genuine opportunities to be involved in other significant commercial and strategic policy matters.

You are a self-starter, a team player, can quickly gain respect in your client and stakeholder relationships, and have extensive experience in office leasing and development projects.

If you are looking for your next strategic challenge or to step into a senior role of influence, then we would like to hear from you.

We are open to flexible working arrangements for the right candidate, including part-time and/or being located outside of Wellington or Auckland. Salary is competitive.

Opportunities like this are rare, offering the best commercial work right at the heart of government.
