We deliver a world-class suite of secure solutions in e-commerce, cashless parking and vending, and retail terminals, and acquiring solutions across industries and verticals.

Role Summary:

Windcave is looking for an experienced legal counsel to join its Auckland office. To date, legal work for the group is handled from the Los Angeles office. The new role will seek to manage legal matters in the New Zealand, Australia and SE Asia Businesses.

This role will be required to function effectively in a profitable, growing fintech; and we invite applications from candidates from law firms and in-house counsel alike.

Exposure to relevant commercial environment will be an added advantage.

Role Purpose:

· To provide sound advice regarding different kinds of law including consumer protection, commercial law, etc

· Will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts and providing transaction support, where necessary.

· Should be able to provide legal reasoning towards compliance and project work and partnering with the business on key matters.

· Assist with resolution of complex disputes as tasked by the management when required.

· Review actions that may arise out of business decisions and have material impact to the business.

Role Requirements:

· 4-6 years of Post Qualified Experience in a law firm.

· Sound knowledge of New Zealand law. Any other regional experience/exposure is desirable as our customers tend to be global and the company supplies services into multiple international markets; the contract negotiations, like the service should be seamless between countries.

· Strong communicator with ability to think commercially as most legal work in the company involves commercial arrangements with customers and partners. Compliance with the law and regulations is essential for the company, operating as it does in a regulated environment. Ability to empathise with a counterparty’s commercial drivers in a negotiation is a vital skill, while simultaneously defending the commercial position of the company.
