Legal Adviser, Competition - Commerce Commission, Wellington

The Competition and Consumer Branch aims to ensure markets are more competitive and consumers’ interests are protected. The Branch helps businesses to understand their obligations and consumers to know their rights.
Our Competition Legal team is looking for a top-flight law graduate to join our busy and productive team. This is a full time, permanent position based in our Wellington office.
Join a team of talented lawyers who will guide and mentor you, as you learn to apply competition law principles and undertake competition litigation.
Your day-to-day role is likely to involve:
- gathering, researching and analysing complex information
- opinion writing
- presenting information either in writing or verbally
- working with internal and external stakeholders
- prioritising between multiple pieces of work
What you will have
We are looking for someone who has completed or is completing the final papers of their law degree.
With an excellent academic record you will ideally have completed papers in competition law, economics or finance however other relevant commercial law subjects will be considered.
You will also have:
- strong skills in administration and the organisation of information
- proven experience in assessing information and forming views and advice within a legal framework
- confident and clear communication skills both written and verbal
- sound judgement
- the ability to successfully collaborate with others.
