MSD Legal provides professional legal advice and advocacy services to all areas of the Ministry. About the Role
The Litigation team within MSD Legal manages higher court litigation, working closely with Crown Law and internal Ministry clients. The team primarily deals with claims resolution for historic abuse claims, social security high court matters, and human rights complaints and litigation.
This Lawyer role is focussed on supporting the Ministry’s Historic Claims team. The Historic Claims team work with people who have been abused in State care, in particular the care of Child, Youth and Family and its predecessors, to address their concerns without them needing to resort to civil litigation. The role requires working alongside the team to support their claims process, manage litigation, advise on individual claims and processes and procedures.
This role does not generally include Court advocacy as Crown Law is instructed but familiarity with court processes and litigation management is desirable.
