In-house Legal Advisor - Tasman

Based in Richmond you’ll be assisting our Principal Legal Advisor to provide high quality legal support and advice across all aspects of Tasman District Council’s activities and business.
As a qualified and experienced lawyer, you will be a pragmatic problem-solver, bring strong communication skills, and create great relationships across the organisation and with external legal providers to ensure the best outcomes for Council.
The role is diverse and interesting and you’ll be expected to provide solution-focused advice across a broad range of areas including local government law, environmental and resource management, planning, building and development, public and administrative law, dispute resolution and litigation, commercial, contract and procurement matters, property law, and a whole host of other interesting issues that fall within Council’s functions and duties.
We’re open about the level of the position at this stage - you may be an intermediate lawyer seeking full-time work or a senior lawyer seeking part-time work. Please let us know your preference when you apply.
