The Role: What This Opportunity's All About
This is a rare opportunity for you to become part of our growing in-house Employment Relations team.
CDHB is one of the biggest employer's in New Zealand with a workforce that includes nurses, orderlies, lawyers, doctors, engineering and maintenance, food service workers, accountants and many others. We employ over 10,500 people via 54 different collective and individual employment agreements. Our Employment Relations team is responsible for providing specialist ER and legal advice to managers and executive leaders, acting as an escalation point for our team of HR advisers in complex matters, providing training and resources on ER issues and implementing CDHB's Employment Relations and Industrial Relations programme of work in support of Our People Strategy.
Our team is expanding and we're looking for an extraordinary team player, strategic thinker and influencer who:
- ideally has three to five years' PQE in private practice, specialising in employment law, and is looking to move in-house and take on a new challenge in a diverse environment
- has experience of working with unions and is familiar with New Zealand's industrial relations landscape
- is a creative thinker who can identify issues, problem solve and deliver advice with a well-rounded and considered approach
- can confidently develop and provide ER related training to line managers and other HR professionals
- when providing advice, can strike a balance between minimising legal and reputational risk with an understanding of what's the "right" thing to do
- can build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
