About the role 
A values-driven organisation is seeking a Workplace Relations Business Partner to join its high-performing in-house HR and Legal function. This is more than just a legal role — it's an opportunity to help shape culture, champion fairness, and support leaders across a dynamic and evolving organisation.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team of experienced employment lawyers, providing expert guidance on a wide range of Employment and Industrial Relations matters — from enterprise bargaining and dispute resolution to change management and investigations.

In this permanent, full-time position (with flexibility to WFH 1 day per week), you’ll have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to both strategic projects and day-to-day workplace relations issues — all while helping leaders live the organisation’s values in every decision they make.

 

What we’re looking for 

  •          A lawyer with 3–6 years’ post-admission experience in Employment Law or ER/IR, with a current New Zealand (or Australian) legal practising certificate, or eligibility to hold one
  •          Strong technical knowledge of employment and industrial relations legislation, and proven experience working with Unions and within collective agreements.
  •          Experience advising on investigations, disputes, performance management and change processes·         A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset that balances legal risk with commercial outcomes
  •          Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including HR and senior leaders
  •          Experience mentoring or upskilling leaders on ER/IR matters
  •         Confidence managing sensitive situations with discretion, calm, and professionalism
