Effective Advocacy in Mediation - part 2: Auckland
Any organisation can find itself in dispute with a supplier, client, customer or partner. As mediation becomes more and more common as a resolution process for disputes, in-house counsel play a key role in ensuring that your organisation is best placed to get positive outcomes from those disputes.
But it is not all about what happens around the negotiating table. Effective planning and preparation is key to the success of any mediation or negotiation. In short, failing to plan is planning to fail.
Hayden Wilson from Kensington Swan will share his experience as a mediator to help you to prepare for mediation with your organisation. In this seminar, Hayden will talk about the up-front work that will give you the best chance of success, and how to avoid some of the most common reasons negotiations fail.
Hayden trained as a mediator through the Resolution Institute in New Zealand, and at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University in California. He has recently studied at Harvard University, completing the Advanced Mediation: Mediating Complex Disputes workshop.
1. Understanding how to effectively prepare and plan for negotiations;
2. Identifying reasons negotiations fail and planning to avoid them;
3. Developing effective negotiation skills and techniques.
